O.k., everybody north and east of here (northern Virginia), don't mess around...make sure you've got plenty of the essentials on hand: milk, t.p., soup fixin's, cat food, kitty litter, candles, matches (books, quilting projects, gasoline for the snow blower, window scraper, snow shovel by the back door, full tank of gas in the car, plenty of seed to refill the bird feeder...)...this snowstorm is going to be the real thing!
It sounds like we here in the "sunny South" might actually end up with more snow than those of you further North. From "light snow" as forecast a few days ago they are now saying this may very well be one of the 10 biggest snow storms on record for December, with as much as 20 inches of snow before it stops on Sunday.
I had dinner with my father this evening (and with my sister, who flew in yesterday from Tennessee to visit him). When i left there at 8 p.m. it had just started snowing. By the time i got home, at least an inch and a half had fallen and roads were starting to get very messy.
Fuzzy and Louie know how to deal with this kind of weather...stay inside on the couch, cuddled up with one of your best friends.
Hope everyone will stay safe and warm!
What a hoot we are, reporting on Nova's snowfall in the middle of the night! It's kind of thrilling, but I'm hoping we don't lose power. The cats do have the right idea, and I'm about to get thick comforter out of the closet. Happy snow day!
ReplyDeleteThat does look like serious snowfall. We had a tiny little snowfall yesterday night and woke up to the beautifful white cover. Very little though. And the forecast is for only 40% of probability of snow for Christmas. We'll see. we will be going to the other type of humans parents by car and so heavy snowfall might actually not be the thing to wish for.

Do stay warm and dry! We have had unusually cold weather and snow here too these past few days.
ReplyDeleteWow! Thanks for the warning that snow is on its way north...just looked at our weather report and we may get 3-5 inches on Sunday...you sure are getting the lion's share! Stay warm and safe with your snuggly furry family!
ReplyDeletedon't you just love it!!!!
ReplyDeleteI was grumbling mildly about the house feeling chilly today, although it has warmed up from our two weeks of temps that hovered around zero daytime. Husband looked at me and commented that it IS December! It is easier to admire snow photos than to go out in it.
ReplyDeleteI have a BIG quilt to bind--maybe a good evening to be swathed in cozy layers of fabric as I work my way around.
I'm with Fuzzy and Louie there!

It looks like we'll get a white Christmas this year as well...really the only time I don't mind snow on the ground. Stocking up for a snow storm is definitely one of those unspoken American rituals...although being stuck in the house with a ton of food at hand can be a dangerous thing.
ReplyDeleteYou got a lot of snow, didn't you? We had our share here in Northern Massachusetts, but Cape Cod really got clobbered!
ReplyDeleteYour photo looks like the fabric picture I just put on my blog!!
Stay warm! Hope you're shoveled out!
We hope you can stay warm and cozy through this storm!
ReplyDeleteStaying warm and cosy inside is the bestest thing to do!
ReplyDeleteMerry Chrismouse and a very happy New year!
Snow is pretty, if you are inside a nice warm home looking out.
ReplyDeleteJust getting caught up! Hope it wasn't too bad but I heard it was nasty!!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to you!!
My family says almost two feet in NoVa - so we hope all is well. We received 14" here, and that is plenty - we have a lot to shovel, and they still haven't cleared our road all the way.
ReplyDeleteAnd we hope you and your feline and human family have a very happy holiday!
Love and purrs from Katie and the cats
Have a very happy Christmas!

I am so happy to say that we did not get caught in this snow-mess. Pretty to look at, but no fun to work in. Hope you have a wonderful holiday season.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas Quiltcat!
