Things You Don't Tell Prospective Cat Owners

Last night when i went to take my shower i discovered a small puddle of urine on the bathroom floor. It appeared "normal" so i don't think it was a cry for help from a kitty with urinary tract problems. I assume it was left by either Gingy or Sylvie, who from time to time have been caught squatting over the heat register in the bathroom floor! (presumably letting each other know that they're still around) (in case the growling and hissing wasn't enough of a reminder)

As if that wasn't bad enough, after i got out of the shower, i dried off, put on my clean long flannel nightie and slippers and sat down at the computer for a bit, then wandered into the kitchen to get my stuff ready to go to work Monday a.m. ...Louie came over to me and leaned companionably against me while sniffing interestedly at the hem of my nightie. He was giving it waaaaay too much attention for just an ordinary clean nightie. I grabbed the hem with my hand, noticed it was wet (could be, i just got out of the shower) but NO...it was damp with cat pee! Blecch! Not sure how or when that happened, but...yuck.

  1. Oh dear--I've expereinced such things with cats--and either it is a chronic urinary problem--or a chronic territorial-personality issue. I hope it is soon resolved. There's nothing like finding cat pee where it doesn't belong!

  3. Oh man, ya years a go we had a cat that did this and was a bad urinary infection.....the cat we have now is part siamese and has long fur, so shes got a super sensitive stomache, so more often then not I end up cleaning up after her all over and shampooing carpets more than I care to...but I still love her.

  6. Yikes! That does sound awful! Cat pee is the worse! Our Nanny can't smell cat pee and thinks she is very blessed. The PM has a super sniffer and is always going through Nanny's house making sure Kitty Girl didn't leave any surprises anywhere!

  10. Sorry you have to deal with that.
We once had a cat who peed in the same corner of our living room (in another house) over and over. And it was carpeted! The smell was terrible. Hope you get your problem solved soon!

  13. Yes, the other type of human is VERY nice. And both girls love him very much. I suppose Siena did get into the shed this time and was confronted with the neighbour cats in there, so really couldn't move. But what a coincidence that she came exactly when the other type of human appeared!
    Happy Thanksgiving to you!
