A gift from my new boss

We had an office party on Thursday last week that i missed most of because i was having lunch with a friend who retired from the PO a couple of years ago and it was the only day we could both fit into our schedules. When i got back, the party was still going on. The boss had provided lots of goodies, many that she'd cooked herself and some from other members of her staff. She also bought scrumptious chocolates for everyone (Harry and David truffles and chocolate-covered bing cherries...not bad!)...and they played some trivia games that she awarded prizes for, so that everyone got a small gift. Since i missed that part, she let me select from one of three packages that was left. I took one that looked kind of squashy as if it might have something textile-ish in it, and in fact it was a small pretty pillow in Christmas-y colors. Everyone was kidding me that they knew the kitties would claim it, and i knew that would happen. Sylvie got there first!
I hadn't noticed yesterday when i took this picture that Sylvie looked hunched up...poor sweetie, she was coming down with a urinary tract infection. I had to delay my departure today to take her to the vet. She's on metacam (a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory) and clavamox (an antibiotic)...hope Sara-the-cat-sitter is able to get her to take them!

  1. Gee, your boss must really like you all. We got a catered lunch at the PO and that was it.
Your gift is nice and appropriate. Hope your kitty feels better soon.

  2. We hope she will be a good kitty and take her medicine to feel all better asap! That cushion WAS a cat cushion all from the start - it's so obvious! Purrs, Siena & Chilli

  3. Hope Sylvie is doing better...we have a terrible time administering any kind of medication to our cats...in June when Polly had a leg infection from an encounter with Brody, our friend, Lynda so kindly came twice a day to give Polly her meds!
That cushion is just right for cats!

  4. hi Katie Jane, thanks for stopping by! Our boss does seem to like us, surprising as that seems! Hi Siena, Chilli, and Nan...Sylvie has been a very good girl about taking her Clavamox 'cause i put it in a pill pocket and she gobbles it right up. (In fact, she accidentally ate the pill pocket from around the pill this a.m., so then picked the pill up with her mouth and ate it separately--then she looked somewhat disgusted by its taste! I quickly gave her a couple of treats to hide the bad taste.) She's been a bit more difficult to give the pain meds 'cause i have to hold her and stick the syringe full of liquid in her mouth...she yells whenever anyone wants her to do something against her will. But she's fine with swallowing the medicine once i squirt it into her mouth.

  12. Hi everyone, thanks so much for stopping by! I really need to put up a bunch of New Year posts...have some nice pictures and stories, just need some time. In the meantime, i'm happy to report that Sylvie is feeling much much better. No more blood in her urine, and she's being very good about taking her Clavamox twice a day in pill pockets. This a.m. she ate the treat from around the pill so i had to quickly grab her and pop the pill in her mouth...she hates being held against her will but she was a good girl and swallowed the pill. She's not on the Metacam anymore either because her tummy/bladder aren't hurting anymore.
