The challenge of telecommuting with cats

Yesterday was my telecommuting day, and the cats caught on that i was home. First Fuzzy came and snuggled while i was typing. Yes, my left hand is on the keyboard under his fuzziness!
Then it was Louie's turn. "Hi, mom!"
He's a little bit harder to snuggle and keep working, because unlike Fuzzy who leans most of his weight on the desk (and keyboard), Louie totally curls up on my lap, and needs to be held in place. Here he is kneading...
I'm more or less able to type like this as long as he doesn't cut off circulation in my hand.
Here i'm trying to participate in a teleconference...phone between left ear and shoulder, one arm wrapped around Louie, the other trying to take notes....no hand free to type or scroll down the computer screen. It's a tough job, but somebody's got to do it....

  1. Hi quiltcat,
those photos are so wonderful and very familiar to me...Ellie May does the same thing when I'm working on my art or the computer...I wouldn't think of moving her. It's amazing how we adapt to working with cats on our laps and with their heads resting on our arms.

  2. Why is that we're never more alluring to felines than when we're working at the computer? No one here sits on my lap when I'm at my desk, but there's plenty of desktop sashaying and standing over or on the keyboard for lovin'.

  3. Heehee! Lovely photo's, I know the feeling about having to 'hold the puss in place'! That's so funny, you trying to work until your hand goes dead, yes, it's happened to me many times!
I was up early this morning, as giant, ginger Bob landed on me at six am! He then systematically pushed me out of bed! Now he's at the top, Magic's at the bottom, and I'm out here in the cold!
Wouldn't have it any other way!
    Best Wishes,
    Liz

  4. Hi Liz! Shame on that Bob, waking you up and pushing you out of bed! My guys like to curl up in bed with me...Fuzzy wraps himself around my head on the pillow and Louie lays between my knees. On really cold or calm nights, either Gingy will sleep on the "cat towels" on the foot of the bed or Sylvie will sleep next to my side (the two girls can't manage to be in the bed together at the same time...they can barely manage to be in the same room together at the same time!) Hope you won't be too sleep-deprived today from your early awakening!
